Judith Hall begins her studies of flora and fauna with intense field work -
sketching,
photographing and observing at close range. She strives to depict with her
fauna a little slice of life that is pleasing, familiar and appropriate to each subject.
The technique of etching was perfected in the middle of the fifteenth century, in Italy
and in Germany at the same time.
Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso, Thomas Gainsborough, Rembrandt van Rijn and Albrecht Dürer all produced works of intaglio
in one form or another. Judith Hall is recognized for her achievement in this difficult medium.
